French Fries

I'm working on some self promotion pieces and came across this old shot of french fries. I remember at the time thinking I should probably get my tripod out, try harder with the set up, etc. (it was the end of a long night). But the unedited results are really quite beautiful anyway.

Or am I just hungry?

Holidazzle

The "Holidazzle" parade in downtown Minneapolis is a great photo opp. A few years ago I got some great B&W images, but this year I took color. The only downside to the parade is that it's usually freezing cold, not to mention in the middle of the busiest time of year. If you ever want to shoot it yourself, I recommend going to 12&Nicollet about a half hour before they start. Everyone is lined up and waiting so you can get a lot of shots without chasing a float or tripping over parade watchers.

Also from Nicollet Ave. I love the look of holiday lights in the background of a picture so I thought I'd try throwing the whole frame out of focus out on purpose.

Winter wedding

A winter wedding can be a lot of extra work, demanding mentally and physically. I find myself drawing on my years of experience to create the same results one might find on a sunny June day. Even basic issues such as transportation impact the pictures. Normally a five minute drive, it took us a half hour to get to Rice Park in downtown St. Paul but we arrived in the nick of time to catch blue hour. I think the results are quite lovely. These marvelous clients not only scheduled their wedding earlier on my advice but were willing to be outside in a blizzard for pictures. Thanks Heidi and Dave, mmmmwah!
